Allen is a fourth generation plumber. His great grandfather, Harry, started his business in Jermyn, PA in the early 1900's.

Harry's son, Robert, was also a plumber and worked at Lehigh Foundry.

Robert's son, Willard, is a Master Plumber and worked at Lafayette College as their plumber for 31 years, and still works for Allen today.
